A brief providers can actually answer

Copy this template so every agency you ask quotes against the same scope, budget and proof.

Why a written brief saves weeks

Most mismatched proposals come from a vague ask. When five agencies read five different jobs into one call, you cannot compare their answers. A one-page brief makes them quote against the same thing, and makes it easy to see who read it.

The template

Who we are: [company, what you sell, where]

How we will measure it: [the KPI and today’s number, e.g. CPA, qualified leads, installs]
Markets and languages: [countries, cities, languages]
Budget range: [a range, and whether media spend is included]
Timeline: [start date, first milestone, decision date]
What we have tried: [channels, agencies, what worked and what did not]
What we need from you: [scope you expect the provider to own]
Proof we will ask for: [similar work, a client we can call, team who will do the work]
How to reply: [format, length, deadline, who to send it to]

Before you send it

  • Give a budget range. Without one, every proposal is a guess and the honest providers price themselves out.
  • Say what you will ask for as proof, so providers bring it the first time.
  • Send the same brief to everyone, on the same day, with the same deadline.
